I was wondering if I would still be able to get admitted into the Naval Academy even though I have a tattoo.

Technically you are not allowed to have visible tatoos. You are asked to provide information about any body alterations - tattoos/piercing -- as part of the paperwork you submit to accept your appointment. I don't don't know if you are asked before that. You will be asked where the tattoos are located. You will also need to provide a photograph of the tattoo. Depending on where the tattoo is located and what it is a tattoo of, you may be asked to have the tattoo removed at your own expense.

Having said that, I have seen pictures of a USNA wrestler with an armband tattoo which would only be visible when he is wrestling.

Everything GoNavyMom said is correct but as for if they will ask you to get it removed the primary concerns are:

Will it show in uniform? (even pt gear)

What is it of? (satanic, sexual, etc.)

But, in the end it really comes down to the particular administration and the opinion of the members of the body alteration board.

My son has tatoos on both upper arms, across his chest and across his upper back and he is now a senior. They do not show when he is in uniform and they are celtic as well as patriotic.
