Anybody else going?
Where are you from pennak and CTXmom? We are in San Antonio. Either of you going to be in the band? Or the Business School?
Got put on the Wait List! Have fun!
Maybe. DS and I are going down next week for the eagle scout event. Will probably decide soon after that. What made you choose a&m?
It's like the Cadets told me when I first got there (the traditions are a little overwhelming at first) "From the outside looking in, it's hard to understand. From the inside looking out, it's hard to explain."
Once you go to Aggie Eagle, you'll know.

Pennak - what Morgan says here is so true! Our daughter is finishing her junior year at A&M (she's not in the Corps). She has had an amazing college experience and absolutely loves this school. Aggies have an intense loyalty to A&M and each other - it really is a family. Keep an open mind when you visit next week, and your son will be able to tell if it feels like "home" to him. The Corps is the heart and soul of A&M, and its presence is felt in every corner of the campus. It's like the Cadets told me when I first got there (the traditions are a little overwhelming at first) "From the outside looking in, it's hard to understand. BTW - our son received a NROTC scholarship to A&M, but he chose to accept his appointment to USNA and is now finishing his plebe year. When he's home on leave he still wears his A&M and Corps t-shirts - I think part of his heart will always be at A&M!
Thanks for the post PositiveThinking! Where are you from? Are are from Maryland. I will absolutely keep an open mind. I am very much looking forward to the visit, as is DS. A&M is high on DS's list. The Aggie Spirit is really impressive, of that there is no doubt. The Corps is paving the way for us, I have to admit. They have already given DS a scholarship and a waiver of out of state tuition and we haven't even done the Aggie Eagle competition yet. I will report back when we return. Ultimately it will be DS's decision. These kids are great, but they have to follow their own heart in these choices. Quite a tall order for 17 and 18 year olds. I am quite curious what he decides. He has a wealth of options, been admitted to A&M, Univ. of Maryland College Park, Univ. of Washington Seattle, VMI, Citadel and Norwich. Alas, a TWE from the USNA. But, he will do MO NROTC where ever he goes.
