Hello!
My son just found out that he did not get into tamu, but was offered the PSA option. Texas A&M was his first choice and is considering this option because he so badly wants to be an aggie. (He's also been accepted to Norwich and The Citadel).
Has anyone been through this program? Do any of these schools offer a corps of cadets? (tamu-galveston was not on the list). He really wants to go to a college with a military component, and believes that he will not do well without that structured environment to keep him focused. I did a quick look through the options and none seemed to offer that... Anyone with any opinions on this experience? Thank you!

TAMUG does have a NROTC corps as a part of the Texas Maritime Academy. Their cadets usually go to at least one football game for a march in. If your son has a 2.5 at the end of the first year he would be guaranteed a spot in College Station. Then he'd do a semester in one of the transition units such as Squadron 18 as a Fish (first "year") cadet. I think, I'm not sure, but I think there also another unit that does this as well. Then your son would be considered a "Pisshead" (second year cadet). Some cadets stay in Squadron 18 and others go to another unit. The first year of NROTC, particularly if not contracted, would be fungible with other ROTC programs. Good luck.
