Texas A&M ROTC Patriot Scholarship?

This is great news for so many cadets!

There are other colleges that offer scholarships for room and board as well. See the pinned thread at the top of the forum.

I think this is more evidence the college admission wars for the best students are getting more intense even among large national public universities. According to the College Board survey of private colleges, the average tuition discount offered by private schools (outside the Ivies) is now about 50% off the published price. Expect even more intense competition as the number of high school students seeking a four year campus degree declines. Same for students with ROTC scholarships - as DOD reduces the number of these scholarships - competition to recruit them will increase. TAMU just took this to the next level with its generous commitment - about 700 cadets will receive this award - about $5 million a year over the next ten years.

Two other colleges our DS has in his top three do this already. This is a game changer if he's awarded an ROTC scholarship. A&M will definitely win! It is his #1 and he would figure it out as an OOS student if it wasn't available.

DS received an email from Texas A&M today making him aware of this as a 4 year winner. They were not on his original list of 7 because of cost and being an OOS student. If he decides to apply and gets accepted can his 4 year transfer to a school that was not on his list of seven let alone not in his top three it was awarded to?

TAMU went from my 8th most desired school to 3rd most! The commitment to the cadets is impeccable!
