Coming from a family where neither of my parents served and my school barely knew what a "Service Academy" was, I knew this was going to be a long process. Fortunately, this forum has been more helpful than almost any other resource I had. Though it was a tough choice choosing between ROTC or an academy because my first intention has always been to become an Officer and not just to attend an Academy, I chose to accept USMA Civil Prep due to the fact that I believe West Point will prepare me for a lifetime of public service both in the military and afterward that is unmatched anywhere else in the nation. To everyone that has helped me this year, thank you, and to those still waiting I wish you all good luck.

Well said. I was just thinking of starting a thread like this. I received my appointment today, and without a doubt owe everybody on this forum a huge thank you. From the beginning of last summer to this current day, this has been a group and community that has had each others back. So again, thank you.

I'd seriously recommend this forum to anyone that asks me about a service academy in the future. Congrats on your appointment!
