I think this thread is funny. I sorta agree, we shouldn't be thinking about dating considering we aren't even there yet. But then again we're humans. Humans still have that primitive drive, oh well. Hopefully I won't have a problem with this considering I'll try the long-distance thing with my girlfriend, but good luck with the rest of you guys/girls lol. I don't think we're the most attractive bunch out there, especially after we see each other at our worsts- with dirt in our teeth and BCGs.
 
Yea for Chistcorp's post..........loved it and laughed out loud. Next time my son mentions dating I gonna use your line, "if the military wants you to have a date, they will issue you one". so funy LOL>>>>>>

I didn't say dating was bad, it's perfectly okay (although in a work environment such as an academy it can turn bad if the relationship ends with a grudge) I was talking about just wanting to go hook up with girls. Totally different things.

And I know we have our drive but I would hope we would be able to control our need to reproduce with random hookups while at the academy. :biggrin:

Well I don't mean to be offensive my fellow Army dude, but we Air Force people are known for having good looks, and with good looks comes a curse. When you put that many good looking people together in one place, unfortunately, hookups are bound to happen.
 
MY bad everyone. I did not mean this question to be degrading or innappropriate it came about from a discussion with one of my friends who is going to Marion who insisted that cadets couldnt date or do anything while at the Academy.

As for my shot at America's FInest. I was just annoyed that he blew my question out of proportion. I didn't ask this question so i could go crazy at the Academy I just wanted to know the answer.

I will be more careful in the future.

In all honesty though, I was a little curious as to the aspects of caDATING also. The odds don't look pretty, but there's a chance to meet a few decent ladies I wouldn't mind spending some time with.

I just have to wait first and see how my current situation pans out... when feelings that have been suppressed by both parties for about 2 years surface out of the blue, and the female already has a BF who lives over 10 hours away, things get a little sticky.

I don't think we'll have to worry about dating during basic if you're one of the chosen ones like me who will be rocking the Birth Control Glasses, nobody in their right minds would touch something like that... then again no one in their right minds would give up their summer to meet people who are so hospitable and willing to yell at you for anything...:eek:

Most of us are nice people. It's just that basics act REALLY dumb quite often, and the cadre are usually running on about 4-5 hours of sleep. (...and yelling gets people's attention better than speaking normally)

Milgram and the Stanford prison experiments. While cadre and us upperclassmen help to feed each other, we also keep each other on a leash so nothing out of hand occurs. Don't expect someone to whip you with a baton anytime soon. :wink:
 
Well, usually the Cadre get frustrated by basics acting in a few common ways.

The first is using zero common sense. (BCT has a tendency to rob that from most people.)

The second is basics following instructions EXACTLY when the cadre intended something else. This is not the basic's fault, but it is very frustrating for the cadre.
A humorous example: after the PFT, the cadre were recording basics' scores. One basic was called out into the hallway, and the cadre (looking at the records) said, "______ jump." The basic, misinterpreting the question as a command, proceeded to perform an excellent kangaroo jump in the middle of the hallway.:yllol:
 
Oh and yes you are all trying to join OUR Academy.


As for the dating question, i lol'd and actually see it as a valid question I mean he is after all a guy.

Just remember what you are at the Academy for, where you are and what it is you are joining and becoming a part of. If you happen to find a lady friend that helps you exceed in these areas then yes, freshmen can date only freshmen, after graduation its fair game :]
