If nothing has been heard from USNA at this point (no TWE or BFE) is it safe to assume at least that my application has been reviewed and just put aside? In other words, is it probable that my file has been reviewed by the board and I have been deliberately not been given an answer as of yet? or have I not heard anything back from USNA simply because they have not reviewed my file yet?

I'm in the same boat but I don't think that's the case. From what i've read we're on "the bubble." Basically its 50/50 now and for one reason or another, such as usna waiting on denials, admissions hasn't committed to rejection, or acceptance for that matter. Basically waiting this long is kinda ok. We're all well qualified candidates who, if we don't get in, its because there weren't enough spots. Best of luck to you.

Its not neccessarily 50/50, there are a ton of applicants this year and plenty of fully qualified ones, so the ones that have waited this long are competitive applicants going for the few spots that they have. On the bubble in the sense that we are all close and only a few minor things could separate one from a BFE or TWE

Okay thanks a lot! So would it be correct to say that the longer we wait, the higher our chances of getting that BFE become?

no i dont think it would be safe to assume that. i am in the same boat and the way i think it is from what ive read is that the longer we wait the more likely we are going to be that kid who was qualified but there just wasnt a spot for.

I would agree with the latter...although we all still have a chance if we are still waiting, there are less and less slots available. The waiting sucks, I know, but it is almost over.

Unless you've been told no, you're still in the fight. If you get told no this late in the game, apply again for next year. Step back and look at your resume. Shore up the weak spots. hang in there.

Indeed, but always realizing it's a moving target. What is "weak" this week ... might be totally different come next year. The standards are only standard for a class of one.

okay thank you for your replies. So does the board re-review our applications at some point if spots open up? How would this work because the deadline for replies to accepting/denying appointments is May 1st yet the deadline for our notification is April 15th? I suppose actually that's when the wait-listers would get an opportunity at an appointment. Hmm so what then differentiates those who are "on the bubble" and waiting with no word yet and the wait-listers?

This years BFE/TWE/wait list "waiting game" is similar to class of 2014 "waiting game". If time permits, review last years USNA posts from mid March to early April. Many parents and 3'qed w/multiple noms expressed the same waiting frustration and anxiety. Doesn't make it easier, but a history lesson for sure. IMHO, a significant majority of BFE's have been issued and those of us still waiting, on the bubble, still in the hunt need to diligently pursue alternate plans and hope for the best. Last year there were very few BFE's announced on this forum in late March early April.

Good Luck to all.

our MOC says no word yet on his slate---some nominees have appointment to other academies and are still waiting on USNA. I also heard that because of the increase in candidates, it is taking longer this year. Guess we will just have to wait and see. I am still optimistic!!!!

Interesting

What a roller coaster, as nephew has no BFE, TWE, or wait list letter. We hope that means he is still being considered, but not really sure. He is hanging tough.
To those of you in the same situatiion, keep on hoping and if you pray (we do) add some prayers for strength through these final weeks for all who are still waiting. You should be proud to still be in the running one way or another.

DocDadGoat....

We here in Alabama are in the same boat as you. The wait is awful! Anxiety filled days for me. LOL

Getting down to the last days, but like you said, for those still waiting be proud to still be in the running. Let's all hope that some of us can be the ones to add our names to the Appointment List.

Good Luck!

Do you mind if I ask what district/state you are in?
