I was just placed on the waiting list for USNA. I understand the yield is extremely high and getting off the wait list can be challenging at service academies. In the mean time, does anyone recommend anyway to increase my chances of getting of the wait list? I know it can be helpful at some civilian schools to update them on things you have accomplished since you have turned in your application and to reaffirm your interest in attending. Also at this point should I place my deposit for my backup school and just hope for the best before I-Day?

What does your wait list letter state? Did it ask if you wanted to remain on the wait list? In years past it has specifically stated to continue to pursue a back up. It also stated if you had any major achievements to update them.

Yes, the letter asks to reply whether I want to remain on the wait list or rescind my application. Thanks for the info.

No waitlist email here. Wonder if that means the TWE is on its way.

Keep your chins up! My DS waitlisted last year. In the fall He went to University on four year NROTC scholarship. Loved his experience but reapplied and received an appointment. It is an emotional rollercoaster. Once je was waitlisted we made decisions and talked as if he was doing plan B. We just wanted / needed to move forward. I would suggest doing the same. Once the pain dissipates then you can decide weather to reapply or not.

Waitlisted here... cannot believe that we have made it this far and still cannot move on. DD has a great Plan B in place (already paid deposit and picked a room) and I wish she could get excited about it instead of waiting to be denied at the last minute. On top of all that is going on, the added stress that this brings cannot be worth it. And I obviously would never say any of this to her so thanks for “listening“!

I am very stressed as well, being placed on the wait list, but I must say all the stress is worth it. Even having the slight chance of an appointment is enough for me to keep me going. Don't be discouraged, your DD and I are far from a "yes" but have yet to receive the "no". Just gonna be a few more months of waiting, time to read some good books!

Emails or letters?

I honestly wouldn't speculate too much on if not recieving a waitlist email means a TWE is on the way. From past years' threads, appointments were given out to candidates all the way up April 15th, so it may not be over for the rest of us stuck in CPR. Until you get a TWE, you still have a shot at an appointment!

According to the waitlisted FAQs approx. 70-120 people get waitlisted each cycle.
