It's been a while since I have posted on here, but it's around that time where everyone starts to hear back regarding their application status.

To those who received appointments you have a hard road ahead of you, but one that is incredibly rewarding. I look forward to seeing you this summer and watching you grow.

To those who did not. I was in your shoes for two application cycles before finally receiving an appointment on my third application. Reapplying and having the opportunity to come here has been the greatest decision of my life and I am eternally grateful for the friends I have made and the opportunities I have been granted. Regardless of where you end up, make the most of the chances that come your way and have a positive impact on the people around you. I understand how heartbreaking it can be to receive that dreaded rejection after working and dreaming for a shot. For me, those rejections gave me the chance to work on and better myself for two years so that I could truly be successful at this place. Keep pushing, don't give up the ship, and pursue whichever path you take with enthusiasm!

Yeah? Let us know if you feel the same way on I-Day. :p

In all seriousness @fullspeedahead , good post. Nobody can truly grasp the letdown of receiving the dreaded thin white envelope (TWE) unless they had it happen to them before. The fact that you got in line for seconds and got served another TWE puts the point on it.

Grit and resolve to attain what may seem unattainable to some, is what makes anyone better.

I predict at some point during I-Day, you will be thinking to yourself "what in the heck was I thinking?". The best part of that moment will be the realization that every single Plebe will be thinking that very same thing on I-Day. If you talk to almost any Plebe after that first day and ask them if they questioned what they were getting themselves in for, they will tell you "Yes".
If they say no - then they're either a prior - or they're lying.

@fullspeedahead thanks for sharing your story. I took a screenshot and texted it to my DS, who got the TWE last week. Just trying to find ways to encourage and inspire him.

Thank you for supporting your DS, that goes a long way. On my third application to the academy I was so close to giving up and not completing the application. Without my mom and dad motivating me to give it a chance and submit the application, I would not be sitting here today. Let me know if you need any help or advice, but I am excited to see your son in the appointment thread next year.
