To those with an LOA still...

Wondering if anyone who had an LOA needing a waiver in the past month or two has had a waiver decision rendered? I've been stuck with an LOA pending a waiver for almost 8 weeks now, and it seems like there are some on this forum who are in a similar case. Maybe we could post any status updates to this thread?

I spoke to admissions and they said it could very well be possible that I (and others with a similar case) could hear back after 15 April. They said they still have some outstanding waivers to go through.

I was medically disqualified in July, received my LOA pending medical waiver in November, and received my waiver and online appointment a month ago. I called my DoDMERB contact weekly.

From what I can tell on SAF, it's you, me, and @Mad_Cow for USNA and @MamaOso for AFA.
DS just got the TWE email. DS had an LOA with no nom in a competitive MD district without an MOC available (passed) so we were praying for the VP silver bullet to no avail. Good luck to those remaining, to those on different paths, and those reporting 6/25.

Still waiting as Plan B deposits are coming due, definitely creates some additional gray hairs.

My DS is still waiting too. LOA on March 25. We put a deposit on another school, but actually hoping that the money was wasted.

What is the condition of the LOA that has yet to be attained? Nomination? Waiver? I am curious.

I have come to say farewell, DD's medical waiver was denied yesterday. This has been such an amazing experience for her and as odd as this sounds, this journey has brought us closer to our family and friends, all of whom have been cheering for her along the way. I cannot be more thankful for this forum, her BGO, our MOC and especially Mr. Mullen (you are heaven sent, thank you for all you do). My DD is determined and resilient and I am so proud of the way she has handled herself throughout the process. For those of you with an LOA and waiting to hear, we wish you luck. And to Class of 2024, congratulations! Plan B, here we come!

Katieg - Sorry to hear that, but it takes a strong person to walk away with the positives. Good on ya :wiggle:

Oh katieg. My heart hurts for you and DD, although I am so happy to hear your positive attitude. It definitely helps to be able to see the good through the hard. You should be proud -- and you helped instill those wonderful qualities in your DD. My DS continues to wait for an answer, although followup requested medical exams were all positive, so we are still hopeful. Best of wishes to your family as DD pursues her next dream.

There is so much growth, learning, development that occurs just going THROUGH the process, that it is never a negative! Its a journey...not matter to where....that is priceless in their development of self. Best wishes!

Totally agree. The LOA represents that the Academy wanted her. She did everything in her control and succeeded in that regard. Losing the waiver battle is about genetics or bad luck.

Best of luck to her in her new Plan A.

DS received medical waiver and offer of appointment on 13 May, so they are still working on them! He will likely accept, but is taking a few days to decide. He is a re-applicant and had a very good year doing NROTC. There are definitely benefits to both experiences!

Anyone else still waiting for a medical waiver? If so, I'm curious as to whether your DD or DS is having any communication with anyone (admissions, waiver authority, DoDMERB). My DD thinks he should just wait patiently. He has responded to all AMI requests and has been told it's in the USNA waiver authority's hands. Just want to make sure he shouldn't be doing anything else. The waiting since March 25 is so hard - especially as I Day gets closer and closer.

NewB, I received my medical waiver about two days ago and accepted my appointment today (Had an LOA.) I was medically DQ'ed on April 16th, and then worked with my admissions counselor, DODMERB Staff, and the Naval Academy medical team to send in any additional info to help them understand why they should grant me a waiver. I'd recommend staying in close contact with all three. At least from my experience, your DD should be emailing DODMERB any additional info to help USNA understand why they should grant the waiver, as well as getting a contact from DODMERB of a technician at the USNA medical office, then checking with your admission's counselor for updates. I don't know what disqualified your DD, but from what I've seen the waiver review process is pretty unique to each individual, so these are just my thoughts based on my experience over this past month.
