Hello, I was recently rejected from USMA, and I was planning to take community college classes to rebuild my GPA. However I am also joining the Army Reserves, which is where the problem lies.

Apparently, unless I go to a 4-year institution or a 2-year JUNIOR MILITARY COLLEGE, I must go to AIT, which means I won't be able to go to my local community college to take my required courses.

What will I be able to do?

need to check whatever junior military college you are interested.

A better discussion is what is your reapplication strategy

option 1 - work and reapply

option 2 - community college / regular college reapply

with option 1 and 2, no other nominations than your MOC

option 3 - ROTC program then reapply

option 4 - join NG or Reserves / active duty then reapply

with option 3 and 4, unless you are a dude, you should get the respective nomination and get an appointment (historically not enough qualified applicants in these nomination categories, so if you are qualified, more than likely you will get an appointment).

Joining NG/Reserves/Active duty could have significant unintended consequences. Also the time required for basic training and advance individual training makes more likely that you could miss the application deadline. Regardless which component you join, you might have a hard time getting a summer basic training slot, then depends on your MOS, the advance individual training slot to join your unit by the spring time.

The combination of option 1 and 4 might be hard to do. The question is at what point will you be qualify for a reserve component nomination, after basic, after AIT.

You can PM me if you want to discuss more - USMA 94, active FFR/MALO or contact your local FFR/MALO for their opinion.

Contact the JMC's and see what options are available.
