Track at the academy?

Could somebody please inform me about how running track or cross country at the academy would work? I enjoy running (track more than cross country, but I'll do both), and I wouldn't mind running at the academy if possible. However, I'm curious if anybody can walk on or if there's strict times/try outs needed. I'm not exactly D1 material, but I'd like to keep running at the academy as my required athletic participation.

As of the end of my indoor season, I've ran 4:40 in the 1600 and split 2:06 in a 4x800. Should I contact the coach now or should I wait until I get to the academy?

Thanks for any help.

My daughter is a recruited track athlete entering class of 2015. I would contact the distance coach, Julie Benson, by e-mail ( availiable on athletic website) to let her know of your interest. She could give you info re:walking on.:thumb:

I would call or e-mail to make them aware. Walk on would be after BCT. I have limited knowledge and a good understanding.

Thanks for the tips AHS74 and scraper. I'll contact the coach soon.
