It’s been a great journey with you all, but my son has just received a very nicely written declination letter from the USMA indicating his DQ waiver has been denied and his conditional LOA has been withdrawn. Maybe this will be helpful to someone else in the future; this was his journey:

LOE 7/25/2023
DoDMERB Exam 7/28/23
Exam reviewed 8/11/2023
LOA 9/1/2023
Medical waiver requested 9/5/2023
Medical waiver denied 10/20/2023 based on D271.40 history of a cute allergic reaction to fish, crustaceans, shellfish, peanuts, or tree nuts.

Good luck everyone!

Best wishes to your son in his college application journey. He is talented and will land brilliantly.
Thank you for sharing the outcome of the DODMERB decision. It may help others.
Sorry to hear the outcome. However, my understanding is this is not DODMERB decision but from WP surgeon, wavier authority.

Thank you for the update. Always helpful to have direct reports.

If your son still feels called to serve his country, there are many paths to service as a Federal civilian. No medical barriers for those who won’t be warranted agents. Many opportunities for advancement and advanced degrees at govt expense. If he can’t be a door-kicker, he can play a vital role in having their backs, in operations planning, cyber, intel, analysis, forensics, logistics, etc. The “ABC” agencies are eager for bright young minds.

Try Google search strings such as:

Student programs CIA (or FBI, NSA, DHS, or U.S. government intelligence careers, or any other major agency or department he wants to explore, such as DoS)

Here’s a good one for DoD, with guaranteed employment:

And another:

Just to clarify. The surgeon recommends, the “green tabber” decides.
