I want to join the judo team at West Point. I know you have to try out, but can I try out my plebe year and do they teach you before tryouts... or do I have to take a combatives class or similar before trying out?

Overall, I'm very unclear on how all the sports/clubs work for non-recruited athletes. Can I be on two or more sports teams simultaneously? And the requirements for sports, should I prepare for tryouts before West Point, what sports clubs I can join plebe year, etc.

Anyone who has information on this topic, please, you are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Contact the coach now but during Beast you will have 'open gym' times where all [ok most] sports programs are there for you to engage as a new cadet.

"Club" type sports are different from DIV 1 sports. I have no specific information about the Judo team, but most club sports try to keep as many cadets as possible. During the first week of the academic year, there will be a club night where all the clubs will be available. There is probably not mucg you can find out about Judo until the start of the academic year.

I wondered the same thing because I wanted to learn more about the club volleyball team. I contacted my regional commander who then put me in contact with the officer in charge. The officer in charge will probably be the best person to ask specific questions about the team.
