Trying to get a head start for application

From what I've read, the academy does rolling admissions, so I am trying to finish the bulk of the application during the summer. I was reading that the teacher evaluation is available on the "status page of your online portal." However, the portal says that I cannot update or access certain documents until July.
How do I go about this if I am going to be out of contact with my teachers during the summer? Should I get the letters of recommendation before the year ends?

Thanks.

Finishing early is great. But you can't start the race until the gun is fired. Forms will come up on the portal periodically. If my memory serves me, you're given roughly 90 days of when the info comes up on your portal to complete the items.

DS communicated with his teachers before the end of the school year to give them an overview of the process/timeline, secure their agreement to provide a LoR, and then forwarded them the LoR submission details after his application opened. Being proactive never hurts in the college/SA application process...

Quick question:

I have already submitted my PCQ and my application is set to open up in July. Since I am starting in July, when approximately does the applications close?

I am asking this because I wish to get my English/Math/Physics teacher evals senior year.

I know this is true with USNA, and I am not sure about USAFA, but do you have to have the teacher for at least one full quarter in order to be allowed to get an evaluation from them? My first quarter ends in late October early November.
This is why I ask when my app is set to close if it opens July.

Thanks!

For the Class of 2021, USAFA used a "rolling" method of promoting applicants to candidate status.
  • Applicants moved to candidate status on July 1st were required to complete their application by November 1st.
  • Applicants promoted to candidate status between July 1st and September 30th were given at least four months to complete their application.
  • Applicants moved to candidate status on/after October 1st were required to complete their application by January 31st.
I do not have a direct view into the process for the Class of 2023, but would not expect these timelines to change considerably. Good luck.

Do you remember anything about submitting teacher Evals? And do all applicants have the option to choose between junior and senior teachers, no matter how early they start?

Teacher evals were included on the list of items required to be submitted by the application deadline. I would make sure your teacher know you well - my DS selected teachers from his junior year as they could provide a much more informed assessment (and he had good relationships with them).

Makes sense.

Of the three teachers needed, my current (junior year) math teacher and my physics teacher will be the same next year (senior year) also. For math, I’ll have AP CALC BC next year, and for Physics, I’ll have AP Physics 1. I have decent relationships with these teachers, but I don’t know them that well. Next year we will have much better relationships.

For English, my teacher will change, but I want to make a fantastic impression starting next year and get that senior year teacher to do my evaluation. My junior year English teacher and I have an ok relationship though....

Would it be possibly for me to get an evaluation next year from that senior year English teacher?

For the Class of 2021, the requirement indicated that evaluations were required from the candidates 11th or 12th grade math and English instructors. I would expect the requirements would be the same this year, but verify once you receive the Instructions to Candidates.
