Turned Down Today

All,

I would just like to thank all of you for all the advice you’ve given me. When I discovered the SAF, I was an overconfident applicant who thought that once I got a nom, it was easy to get in. I also bombed my CFA, came to this fourm for advice and retook it and improved massively. Joining these forums allowed me to reassess my expectations and helped me remain cautionally optimistic. While I did not get the result I wanted today, this whole experience was a very positive one and I can be proud of myself knowing that I did everything I could to make myself the best applicant possible.
Even though I received the TWE, I will not let this discourage me in my endeavors and plan to reapply next year.
I love your attitude!! Go Get EM!!!

You have an amazing attitude, Good Luck and I’ll be rooting for you next year!

My DS got his USNA e-mail/online TWE today as well. USAFA hasn't notified him either way yet. He received appointments to USMMA in November and to USMA in December. He declined USMMA weeks ago and will be accepting USMA tonight.

The TWE reads like this, "Application Status: Turned Down by USNA - Thank you for applying to the United States Naval Academy Class of 2023. Regretfully, we are unable to offer you an appointment to the Naval Academy or its preparatory programs at this time. This decision is not a reflection of your application and efforts, but an indicator of the competitive nature of our process. We encourage you to start thinking about the reapplication process, such that you can make yourself as competitive as possible for next year. Information about reapplication can be found at http://www.usna.edu/Admissions/Steps-for-Admission/Previous-Candidates-and-College-Candidates.php"

There are some phenomenal people on this forum. You have all been so helpful and kind. Thank you all so very much.

Yeah today was a big day for denials. My friend was also declined admission today. The clock is ticking for the rest of us...

Mods - there is another thread running about USNA denials. Merge?

Brendo, the fact that you posted that speaks highly of you. Definitely plan on reapplying. Use this year to improve academically, physically and in leadership. Also sit down with a trusted BGO and honestly assess what you need to work on and go for it again for Class of 2024!

DD turned down due to medical reasons - medical waiver not granted. She hasn't received the email but checked her portal. Best of luck to all of you!!!

If you don't mind me asking - what was the disqualifying medical condition?
