DS received USAFA TWE email this morning and USNA TWE email yesterday. He was already moving forward with Plan B which is pretty incredible (AFROTC Type 7 scholarship to the University of Wisconsin at Madison), so he's not heartbroken at all. The last thing we are now waiting on is to hear from NROTC, but he is 99% sure he is going Air Force.

Best wishes to all others that are in the waiting game!

I went to UW Madison. He is going to love it there. Something for everyone there! (I still dream of sitting in that Ratskeller or on the Memorial Union Terrace at that was 30 years ago).

DS got the TWE from USNA yesterday as well and from USMA a few weeks ago. The disappointment was real but totally excited about Plan B, full 4yr AROTC at Michigan Tech University.

Good luck to your son in Madtown!

I totally agree that receiving the TWE was a let down but also a relief. I am going forward with AFROTC at University of Miami, Oxford. It's definitely very bittersweet but I am still incredibly excited for all the different opportunities I will have and people I will meet. I am doing my best not to let this discourage me as there is always next year to try again, or maybe I will really enjoy AFROTC and keep with it.

The current highest ranking officer in the Air Force was an AFROTC student -- so how bad could it be? Enjoying the college experience while working to become an officer will be a rewarding. I was AFROTC in college and hubby went Air Force OTS -- the number of options to receive a commission as an Air Force Officer is as varied as the individuals that apply. I can see now that this is the perfect plan for DS.

Personally know multiple USAFA grads who, in hindsight, would have chosen the ROTC route. So, congratulations!

It was sort of a relief for DS when he finally got the TWE from USAFA also because he could then dive into plan B, going to Univ of Idaho. The only problem was/is that he was medically dq'd and failed to get a waiver, so he can't participate in AFROTC either. That was a little frustrating. Now he's going through the waiver process with USNA!

Good luck to your son. What about NROTC at Idaho? We had a friend who commissioned out of there. Moscow is a great college town!

Depends if he's medically dq'd again. I love UI and Moscow, lived there for 8 years a long time ago and I still have friends up there.
Fingers crossed that Navy will do a waiver! We lived there too a while ago and loved it. He will have a great time there!

Y’all are going to ROCK it. Always interesting to see who does actually come back subsequent years and apply.

Exciting times for everyone. Leaving the nest. Beginning your next stage of life. Mom and dads cans start purging (#AmIRite??) and deep cleaning.....Seriously, congrats. Having your mind set is a huge thing 🙌
