TWE Received

Were you both CPR, or was there something such as a DoDMERB disqualification or not having a nom?

Very sorry for both of you! I know the feeling of hoping and waiting and coming up short - happened to me too. Thank you for sharing. There is an awesome thread by usna1985 in the USNA sticky section for reapplicants. Extremely helpful guidance on classes to take and things you need to do for the next application cycle. Embrace your Plan B now. Get excited about it because this is your future right now. But also make a plan on how you're going to better yourself over the next year to reapply again - if USNA is your ultimate goal. Admissions wants to see what each reapplicant has done to better him/herself during the second go around. And you would surprised at how many mids have post high school schooling - NAPS, prep school, and 4-yr college - 25-30% of incoming classes. Take time to thank those who helped you along the way - the teachers who wrote LORs, your BGO, your guidance counselor, your coaches, your parents, and everyone else that helped you put your package together. You've got the template for next year's application. Make a plan, write down your goals and what you want to improve, and then work that plan. Use this experience and your plan notes to help write the essay for next year. I can tell you from my own experience it's worth the effort to try again. Best of luck!

I also got a TWE. I had two nominations (one from my representative and one from a senator), but I had a DoDMERB disqualification.
You wouldn't get a TWE because of a DODMERB DQ. Do you know if they sought a waiver? They only seek waivers for applicants they deem otherwise competitive.

I did not inquire about that. I should.
In the email it specifically states “Unfortunately, if you had a medical waiver pending, there will be no further review of your medical status.”
Therefore that just means they possibly didn’t choose to further evaluate/give you a waiver?
Idk that could possible be an answer though

Curious to those who received a TWE, did you also have a LOA? DD is still waiting 🙏🏻

Just to clarify... an LOA is a guaranteed offer of admission so long as certain requirements are met. That said, unless one with an LOA had an unwaiverable DQ I would doubt that they would already have received a TWE.

The only reason you would get denied with an LOA was if you failed to meet whatever requirement was given to you - including medical. So in the medical case - even if you had an LOA but you were not granted a waiver, your admissions status would be denied.

Similarly, USNA usually only starts a waiver process for somebody if they have an LOA. This makes sense - why waste time seeking a waiver for a candidate who doesn't have a shot. However, I would imagine very competitive candidates may begin the waiver process before an LOA.

USNA never denies someone solely on their medical case. Admissions and medical are separate processes until you are in the waiver system, from what I've been told by my USNA admissions counselor (and USNA and DoDMERB websites).

If you have medical pending (waiting for a waiver) and you receive a TWE, then your medical case is closed alongside your application.

Last year I had medical DQ's and was received a TWE with no action on a waiver. This year, I received an LOA and now waiting on waiver review. If you are in a case similar to either, I am more than happy to answer any questions.

I had a waiver granted to me last cycle. Had no nomination. No LOA. Got waitlisted to prep Apirl 15. Then TWE.
