Hey all,

I've just received my second nomination. I was just curious as to whether the USAFA portal shows both nominations as received, because the second hasn't appeared yet.

I'm not worried that the second won't come in, just curious as to if the portal shows more than the first.

Same here, both shown in a bulleted list. It can take a bit to update depending on when the Senator / MOC submits their nominations.

What is the usual lag time between being notified of a nomination (my DS just received his on Dec. 11) and the status to be changed on the application screen. DS received a Letter of Assurance and has completed all the application elements, so he is chomping at the bit to accept the appointment.

It's important to note that an LOA is a conditional offer that requires the following in order for an offer of appointment:
  • Pass the CFA (this is binary ie Pass/Fail and the academy is the only source of truth for whether a candidate has passed
  • Be medically qualified (pass the medical)
  • Be qualified academically (again, the academy will determine this)
  • Once the 3 items above are all rated as "qualified" a candidate is now "3Q"
  • 3Q, along with the LOA and a nomination will trigger the appointment
Hope this helps

Every year, state, MOC, etc. is different and I'm only describing my son's experience last year. He had completed all requirements for the conditional offer and received a nomination in early December. His portal changed on January 24th so there could be a wait. Congratulations and good luck!

The notification from when a candidate hears about a Nom until they are officially submitted can range from minutes to the Nom submission deadline. It’s up to each MOC. Usually it’s from days to weeks, but with the holidays coming, never know.

It will show both with a bulleted list. I have two, the second got notice by mail on Dec. 6, the portal shows it yesterday.

DS has received USAFA nominations from his Senator and Congressman (both show in bulleted format on portal), and hoping to hear back from second Senator within the next week. DS is already 3Q (since Sept) and has done his USAFA interview via skype that went very well. Does that fact that he now has 2 MOC nominations to USAFA (and possibly a 3rd if we hear good news from his other Senator) increase his likelihood of receiving an actual Appointment? Does it do anything to expedite review of his file?

That sounds like that will be about the same for us, too. Thanks for the time-frame....and have a very Merry Christmas.
