I wish that I could say I understood this. Continuity is everything in a situation like we are in in Afghanistan. Gen Rodriguez is smart, well respected and above all Experienced in Afghanistan. So they are going to stick him into Forscom rather than put him in command in Afghanistan?

BTW- note comment about his class rank at USMA- he was 13th from being the Goat! Take heart all of you less than perfect students: while being an Ac Star may set you up for an easier time early on in your career, it really is not the definitive measure of the value or potential leadership skill of the person. (Check out where Gen Odierno or further back Gen Patton or Chesty Puller were in their classes for further confirmation of this.)

Sounds like a real down to earth officer who knows that it comes from boots on the ground up.
