My DS was offered and accepted a full appt to CGAS. He now needs to submit his prep school preferences based on a. google form they sent him the other day. We found plenty of info on NAPS, MMI, GMC but the fourth option on this preference form is UConn Avery Point. We searched google and the forums and we can't seem to find anything about UConn Avery Point as a prep school for CGA. He reached out to the AO yesterday after getting the form but we were curious any anyone on this forum knows anything about the UConn Avery Point prep school option for Coast Guard Academy.

We have gained a wealth of knowledge from this forum over the last few months (and are very appreciative of the guidance) so when we came up blank on our searches for UConn Avery Point for CGAS we figured this forum was the next best place to ask. Thanks for any help you can offer.
 
Hi! Congratulations on your DS’s CGAS appointment! I’ll PM you so we can get in touch. We already have about 50 parents and CGAS students connected! The reason you aren’t finding any information about UConn is that this is the first year they are offering that as a prep school. We just attended the AEP (orientation) for CGAS last week and were told it is mostly for MES (marine environmental science) majors. There will not be much military component to UMass Boston (cyber and engineering majors) or UConn. They send about 25 to NAPS, about 20 each to GMC and MMI and about 5 each to UMass and UConn. UConn students will be housed at CGA (not in Chase Hall) and will need a vehicle to drive themselves to and from CGA to UConn.
 
If you have any other questions about the other prep schools, etc please let me know and I’ll be happy to pass on anything we have from attending AEP last Monday and Tuesday. They had representatives from NAPS, GMC and MMI there. Also, the CGAS program at CGA sent out school preference email to cadet candidates on Friday so be on the lookout for that.
