Today is my Senator's nomination application deadline, and both of my required letters of recommendation have been sent through the mail a few days ago. I have completed everything else through the website and wonder if they have received both letters and if my application will remain "uncompleted". If it is "uncompleted" then I wonder if they will still read it. I have already told his staff about my issue and they seem to not have any solution or answer. Any advice?

Well other than armchair QBing this, and wondering why, if you were so close to the deadline you didn’t drop them off in person? No advice. Other than contacting them, which you already did.

Wait….could you still get a copy of them from the authors, sealed in an envelope, and drop them off in person?

Waiting until the last minute (to include unreliable mail times) drives me bonkers. I don’t get not being a week early, myself. But that’s me. Another option would have been to send them overnight, certified, so you have proof of receipt.

And it’s completely up to them, regarding your last question pertaining to if they will review your application, if pieces arrive past the deadline. No one here will have any idea. It’s wholly up to them.

Good luck to you!

Thank you, I don't think I can receive a PDF version of my letters, but I'll still try. I also didn't know you could just drop them off in person, but I'll doubt I'll be able to get them in before 5 PM, I live about 30 minutes out from the office, but traffic into Raleigh most likely will mess everything up. Hopefully, they are still going to read the application despite it being "incomplete".

Have to think outside the box! You will be doing that a lot as a military officer.

Make sure and work on alternate plans, getting stuff in early 😬

I got most of my stuff done early for West Point and ROTC, just the letters were a bit of an issue since I don't have my recommender's classes right now and I wasn't able to find time where I didn't interrupt them while teaching until recently.
