I have been under Waiver review for the Naval academy since November. It says its due to colorblindness and non-correctable visual acuity, However, I want to branch marines would color blindness even be a factor? Also with glasses my eyesight is 20/20. Do I bring this up to DoDMERB or will I receive an update to my status automatically?

I suspect Deputy DODMERB may pick this up for comment.

Let the process work. Waivers are in the hand of the SA and the applicable Service waiver authority. Only a small number of color deficient waivers are granted; your competition at this point is those applicants in the same boat.

What you want to service select (“branching” is more an Army term) at this point is simply an expressed desire, not a known fact, going in.

I don’t know how the other vision element works in this case.

If you want to be a Marine, please get in the habit of capitalizing the noun meaning the service. It’s a small thing, but the done thing.

All Admissions to the USNA are accepted under Unrestricted Line standards OR they must receive a medical waiver. Branch selection occurs in your Junior year, so USMC desires are not involved in Admissions at all.

The USNA will render their waiver decision and that will be your updated, posted to the DoDMERB website.
