Under Waiver review

I received a message today that I have a single disqualification due to a skin anomaly from when I was an infant. Has not been an issue for a long time. The doctor even cleared this part when he did my physical and did a medical history form that was submitted with the file. My account now states Under Waiver Review, Is there anything I need to do? My current pediatrician has stated this is no health issue. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I have applied and already received emails for congressional interviews. I have already submitted CFA's. I am applying to Air Force (who contacted me about above), Navy (which still states awaiting receipts of remedial), and Air Force and Army ROTC scholarships. The image below is with code.

Q = "The doctor even cleared this part when he did my physical."
A = The examining physician doesn't have the authority to "clear" anything and quite frankly, doesn't know what the accession standards are.

Google "DoDMERB;" Hit "questions on the process;" "If" you meet the criteria in paragraphs 11-12, then 15-19 and 21 will apply:wiggle:

He filled the additional form out for that section and commented "early childhood no problem now".

That is what I was referring to.

None of your doctors, including the contracted ones who perform the physical, have any authority to ‘clear’ anything. That lies with DoDMERB, who decides whether each candidate ‘meets’ (qualified) or ‘doesn’t meet’ (disqualified) standards. Beyond that, the service academy/ROTC decides who and what they will waive as a medically disqualified candidate.

As normal Joe/Jane’s out here in civilian land, we are used to our doc’s having a say. But they don’t. They only perform their duties (a physical) and present their findings to DODMERB. THEY are the authority. So, that doctor could say anything they want…like “clearing xxx”. But they don’t clear anything. They send their stuff in and DoDMERB is who decides.

Just curious, how did you even know you had a skin anomaly when you were an infant? Not asking because you should have lied, but I only know i had chicken box because I was old enough to remember it. I don't remember anything prior to 4 or 5

This is a hurry up and wait situation. It is frustrating (speaking from a parent's perspective) but you need to just accept that at this point it is out of your hands. At the end of the day - your waiver process is handled by the SA - they make the final decision. It stings - we get it - but there is nothing you can do now but wait. Best of luck to you!

My parents obviously had to help me with my medical history. It said to be honest. I was honest. It was only an issue this one time as an infant. I have no memory of it, but it would appear in my medical records if they were ever checked.

It has now been moved to "Under DodMERB Review". It was "under waver review". I am doing my part. All I can do is keep trying.

See? There you go. Like I said....:wiggle:
