Recently I was accepted into UNG's Corp of Cadets (yay :D) I also applied to the AROTC scholarship. However, for my choice of schools I put down UNG ad my second choice, would this perhaps hurt my chances of getting this scholarship to this school compared to people who put this school as number 1?

If you’ve got good stats, you should get your top 3 choices. I suspect with UNG being a SMC, it gets a large allocation of 3- and 4-year national scholarships.

Oh and congrats on your acceptance to UNG. Thank you for your willingness to serve.

Thanks! I can't wait for my future ahead! They awarded 65 scholarships for the fiscal year of 2018-2019 so hopefully that would help my chances as well as getting my packet in for the first board.

Because it is in your top 3, it does not effect getting UNG at all. When you are awarded the scholarship, and who else listed UNG, and when they get their scholarship in relationship to you does effect it. For example, the Army follows the OML after each board to award scholarships. Let’s say they are awarding 300, and you are number 350 (you never know where you were it is just an example). Then you would not get an offer after the first board but your name stays on the OML list. Then for example, let’s say they hand out 1000 scholarships between 4 year and 3 year second board and on that new list, let’s say you are within that number and are awarded a scholarship. THEN and ONLY then does your college list come into play. They look at your number one, if there is a slot they offer it to you, then they go to your number two, and if it is available they offer it to you. Let’s say your number 3 isn’t available and so they offer you 1, 2, and 4. It isn’t unusual 3rd board to see kids that only get offered 1 or 2 schools because their other schools listed have already been offered. My daughter received a 3 year AD on the 3rd board, none of her schools were top tier universities or SMC’s which probably contributed to her getting 3 options, her 1st, 3rd and 4th choices. She took her 4th choice. There were 3 nursing spots at that school and 3 students were offered those spots, only 2 accepted which meant there was one spot left after the 3rd board acceptance deadline. After that, if you did not get the school you really wanted you can request a transfer of scholarship. When awarded you must accept the scholarship to a school and you usually have 30 days. Then if in the spring you want a different school than you accepted, or say you did not get into that school, then you can request to transfer your scholarship to a different one. I hope that helps and congratulations on your college acceptance.
