My son got a blank email today with the subject "United States Naval Academy Nomination Status Update Notification." However, when he went to his portal and refreshed several times, he could not see any change of any kind. Still CPR and still his one nomination is showing up. We know he is medically qualified with waiver approved per DODMERB portal.

Anyone else experience this or have any idea? Maybe a portal change is happening and the email notification jumped the gun on the portal change?

Obviously at this time of year anything like this is pretty nerve-wracking.

My son got that email, exact same title. I was so excited. Until he read it. And it’s that usna has received notification that be applied for the VP nom. And no further Information is to be sent for that...blah blah blah.

Believe me, it’s great info he receives the nom, but MAN I was SURE he was getting that appointment!

Thank you. Wonder why my son's was blank in the subject line and nothing about VP nom on the portal. But since it says "nomination update" rather than something else that seems likely.

There isn’t any update at all on ds’s portal. What you stated is in the subject line of the email. And then the email has the body of ‘we received notification that you applied, you don’t need to do anything else...kind of stuff’.

Makes your heart skip a beat, huh??!?

Did it say you received the VP nom or just that they received word that you applied for it? Also, how long ago did you apply for the VP nom? I found it odd that I didn't receive any confirmation after applying for a it a few months ago. Seems like the kind of thing that would generate an automatic email response.

Only that they received notification that he had applied. And it was During Christmas break when he applied. I actually posted about that very thing....no notification when he applied. Apparently there is not confirmation of the application. He even emailed his admissions counselor about it.

Interesting, I applied back in December and never received an email notification.

Honestly? The VP online application page could simply say “your information has been received”. For confirmation. Instead, after one hits submit, it simply goes back to the empty info page. ‘Ya have NO IDEA if your browser accepted the info. If it went through.

Further, there is no introductory information before you apply that ‘once you hit submit, you will be taken to the info page’ or similar.

So then candidates email admissions and bother them (and they have no info, either). Maybe they submit their VP info again to make sure it’s received, but again no confirmation. Until a few months later.

DS gave up and crossed his fingers 🤞 that it went through.

It’s just odd. But oh well 🤷‍♀️ I don’t get to vote.

Gah!!! I would have thought an email with that heading meant either an offer of appointment was posted to the portal or the other that-shall-be-not-named-status!

That is the exact title my son had in his email. Attached was an offer of appointment. I assume he checked the portal? Under application status it read “fully qualified offer of appointment “ below was a tab to click on accept.

Yes, he checked the portal. Still CPR.

Did the email subject line include the word "Nomination" in it?

Congratulations!! Very happy for your DS. We are just waiting to see that status change!!

Anything new to report? Did you ever figure out the email?

Thanks for asking. Still CPR. Never figured out the email because the body is blank - we only had the subject line - but I am fairly sure it is the VP thing as discussed.

Waiting, waiting, waiting every day....

At least National Merit finalist came through last week. That was some great news.

That’s FANTASTIC news!!

DS’s assigned counselor changes sometime in the last couple weeks. Grasping at straws that THAT is a good sign, but highly doubt it 😂. He is signing all his stuff for plan B NROTC. We may have him closer to home for at least another year! It’s sure a mindset!![/QUOTE]
