Update USMA file with ROTC Scholarship?

DS received exciting news today that he has been awarded a 3 year AROTC scholarship. Plan B is falling into place. :) He has a congressional nom to USMA and we are in a pretty competitive district. He has been updating his file until the Feb. deadline so my question is this scholarship something that should be added to his USMA file? Thanks.

It is a national award so it doesn't hurt to email to RC. DD sent this information to her RC when she received her scholarship, not sure it had any impact but worth sending just in case.
 
My daughter got a 3 yr scholarship, but to 4 of the 5 schools that she listed...........The one that she really wanted and has already been accepted to is not on the list..........Anything to be done??

Once she accepts the scholarship she can write a letter requesting a transfer of scholarship to the school she wants. They will review after the last board and if spots are available at that school and school accepts her then they will notify her of transfer. DD did it last year and was successful in getting transfer.
 
That would be a great thing.............DD insisted, to my chagrin, that she handle all of this application stuff herself, so I am totally unclear about it.........What is a 3 year scholarship? Thanks for the help!
 
DD got a 4 year so I am going off what I have read and not first hand knowledge on this one but it means that she will go to school the first year and be in ROTC but not on scholarship until 2nd year. I have read however that many will be lucky to get upgraded to 3.5 year second semester of they are doing well. Again this is from what I have read from other posters so maybe someone with experience will jump in if I am incorrect.
 
The 3 year scholarship pays during the last three years. During the first year, the cadet must participate in ROTC but will not receive any funds from Uncle Sam.

Their is a possibility that the scholarship my be upgraded to 3.5 years but that depends just as much or probably more on the funds available to ROTC than your cadets performance. It should not be something that you plan on receiving. It is rather the exception than the rule.
 
OK, thanks. DD is still hoping to get an appointment to WP, and her plan B was to go ROTC (without scholarship if she didn't get one) and then reapply to WP for 2023. So, she has the 3 year scholarship. Question: She has been awarded 34K in scholarship money from the school, I wonder if she could still use that towards her freshman year at school, and then not have it when the ROTC scholarship kicked in as a sophomore.........We will have to contact them, but I have to think so.
