Updating Summer Seminar application

Junior. I applied to the Summer Seminar in December, but a few things have changed since I put my application in. I've gotten leadership positions in a couple other extracurriculars and will be taking a standardized test pretty soon. I also recently got the Billy Mitchell award in CAP.

Am I able to update my seminar application, and if so, how do I do it? Would the new information entered even be considered if I do put it in?

It cannot be updated once you submit it.

Luckily, you will be able to update your application once it is time to apply for an actual appointment and stuff in all of your new accomplishments. At Summer Seminar, we were told that attendance/acceptance to SS has nothing to do with admission chances or guarantees either, in case you were also wondering.

Good Luck

Congratulations on the Billy Mitchell award. Thats awesome! It’s specify listed on the USSFA application so it’s a significant achievement. Next is the Earhart award which is also listed. You should be able to achieve it in time to make a difference. Keep up the great work.

Good luck on your summer seminar application. I hope you get chosen but as Domo29 pointed out the outcome is not factored into the admissions decision, as per USAFA Admissions.

You are incorrect there.
Attending NASS does increase your chances of being accepted. It shows commitment and interest in the Academy. The detailers also write a report on you that admissions team will read once they review your app.

I‘d bet attending NASS has very little to do with acceptance to USAFA. 😁

Seriously, though, attendance at Air Force Summer Seminar does not have a direct effect on the admission decision. It may give an advantage in some ALO or nomination interviews, so I’d admit it may have an indirect effect. Also, those “fitness reports” that the cadre write on the candidates are more for teaching the cadre about writing reports than they are for admission use.

I tell all my students that the 'big' advantage of applying to the summer seminars is that you have now 'started' the Academy application process. You should be first in the 'queue' to become a candidate, which will allow you to open the application as soon as it is available. Attending the seminar is a bonus!

By the way, if you are looking for a way to see USAFA (or other SA's) up close and in person, I recommend attending one of the summer sports camps there. They are listed on the GoAirForceFalcons.com website. A number of my students have attended the camps at the different SAs. All enjoyed them and learned quite a bit about the schools. Good luck with your application!

Wait a minute….NASS does not INCREASE your chance of being accepted to USNA in the sense you are speaking to, here. It’s not points on your application, so to speak. It is a recruiting tool, to increase exposure to their program. This is straight from admissions, in BGO training.

Additionally, ‘admissions doesn’t read detailers write up of you as part of their review of your app’. Detailers are participating in their OWN leadership development, of themselves. This is part of their OWN training. Their own leadership is being developed. Your post is actually incorrect.

Readers: You don't get an increased chance of an appointment via attending NASS. MOST who are appointed, have not attended NASS. MANY who attend NASS, are not appointed (both of my boys did, and combining both of their experiences, they only collectively know one other from their companies that did).

Well I know that all of the midshipmen at the program said that including the person in charge. Also BGO reaffirmed that admissions will read it.

It doesn’t have points but the application will have completely two different outcomes if in the report talks about a good behavior with team work rather than a bad behavior with bad leader comments.

Like I said it also shows commitment and interest in the Academy.

So one of us received mistaken information or is just outdated 🤷‍♂️

Thank you for adding up and helping tho!
