Hey I was wondering what my chances of getting into the AFA are I have a 3.2 GPA but working on improving I am only a freshmen, I am almost an Eagle Scout, I am in the Civil Air Patrol, I swim for my school and I lettered my first year and I am going to swim all four years, Also my father was in the Air Force if that helps. Also I already contacted my ALO and did the pre Jr. registration.

Welcome to the forums. Unfortunately, no one on here (except INSIDER) is privy to who your competition is. A candidate in one district may get an Appointment, while a candidate in a different district with higher ACT/SAT scores, better grades, more community service, and athletic accomplishments may not.

Please look at http://www.academyadmissions.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/USAFA_Entire_Catalog.pdf . There is lots of information there. My advice would be to stay active in school doing activities you enjoy. Try and find leadership roles that you enjoy. Take as many difficult classes as you can handle without killing your GPA. Prepare for the SAT and ACT tests. Finally, keep in excellent physical shape. Keep reading the forums and ask ANY questions you have about the process. Best wishes! :thumb:

P.S. Yes, having a parent in the military (depending on length of service) does give you an additional nomination source to draw from.
