Was your,son ? A Eagle Scout or do you have a daughter, we've waited so long , I hope by now since we have seen who got a appointment, we know who was declined ( to a,point) we know accepted & we know of nominees who changed there mind on the USAFA , wait this long for the last quarter to be appointed our hopes are high, our nerves are shot

Yes. My DS is an Eagle. We have not seen any appointments on this forum from our district yet. I'm no expert - this is new to us, but I feel it's still early and the process is far from over. My feeling is that more have not heard than those who have. Hang in there. Try to keep busy and as they say in scouts "Be Prepared" for whatever response comes your way. Good luck!

Great work. My sons strategy was to combine the necessary grades, outside community service, become a Eagle Scout & leader with 43 merit badges & then at 15 to join the civil air patrol USAFA , try to attain the grade of officer 2LT (he did) & then to,cultivate a multi year relationship knowing retired & active USAF Majors all the way up (3) recommendation from active duty Colonels which he met at multi civil air patrol activities. Then not knowing any legislators ,start,from staff level positions to finally getting a congressional & senatorial nominations. Finally at the last minute becoming certified bi-lingual. My sons backup plan is in colorado & we will implement plan "B" ( be prepared) soon. I wish us all luck & I can't wait to see if my son makes it & meet parents at drop off day & weeks later, parents weekend. I hope you are correct, let the appointments roll. Good,luck also.

DD was nom for NA, West Point and AFA, but only wanted AFA, she didn't finish her application for the other two and got the TWE early for both of those. Actually West Point wrote her asking her to finish and if she no longer interested to please let them know, she did.

mom I'm a novice;
Great grades, 3.8 or above, AP and/or honor classes, Community service, if you can do a ROTC type program all four years helpful. Play a sport, HS and possibly club. Be a great citizen, teachers respecting you, because of your character. Practice writing great essay's, you have to sell yourself.
ACT AND SAT SCORES important. Get your stuff in well before deadlines. Be in shape to ace the fitness test. READ the web site it will tell you everything they are looking for. Summit your app to all who are listed for your area.

Simple: ACT/SAT are THE MAIN FACTOR. Without high scores, chances are much less IMHO.
