Best of luck TLPK! Both great choices, can't go wrong! Sorry we won't be likely to meet afterall!73. DrMom/#3Son/No LOA/Appt March 9, 2017/VA-11/SD-VET
#3 received an appointment to West Point on Saturday. It was unexpected.
After protracted and thoughtful consideration--and a review of the academies' webpages and programs and the Army and Air Force's programs in his area of interest, he has decided to accepted West Point.
My wish is that this change will create a life-changing opportunity for one of your sons or daughters.
Good luck to All!
GO ARMY!
For those who do not believe in fate (or God), I believe DrMom's and RickD's DSs are experiencing this now.
Best wishes and prayers for both.
Congrats again. The Appointee kit (lots of docs) will be coming to the portal, if it hasn't already. It's official. He got the emails this morning from the Academy offering an appointment. DS has until 5 MAY 17 to decide. One week.
Congrats on the appointment !! A good morning/day to start out with ..After all these months of waiting, accepting a 4 yr any major ROTC scholarship and accepting his admittance to Syracuse.......My DS portal updated this morning with an appointment to USAFA!!! Now he has a tough decision to make.

Don't have to pinch yourself. It's real! Congrats![emoji4]I received my appointment this morning. I am so excited. After all this time it doesn't feel real.

DS has the same decision to make and only one week to do it.
Same with DS. University of Delaware sweetened the deal by throwing a $10k scholarship on top of the AFROTC one. Very tough decision.Yes, he has until May 5. We have some serious discussing to do. The package from Syracuse is pretty awesome.
WOW. That can't be easy to decide, but thankfully there is no wrong answer to either choice made. What a wonderful situation to be in......other than having to make the decision of which road to take. Your DS earned it, here's to praying he finds clarity in making his choice.Same with DS. Syracuse covers room and board because of the type of AFROTC scholarship he has. The kicker is that he has a $20,000 academic scholarship from them. Room and board right now is around $15,000. He would get to keep the difference every year . And it would even apply if he eventually chose off campus housing. They would actually pay him to attend! He also sent me some pictures.....exactly 1 year ago today he and DH were at the Academy for a tour!!!Same with DS. Congratulations, great to see VA well represented at USAFA!!! BEAT NAVY142. MUSAFA21/Self/No LOA/Appt. April 28, 2017/Accepted/VA-08/Congressman Beyer
We toured back in 2013, toured all 4 academies over the last few years. He has a USAFA mouse pad, so he's reminded everyday Now, he has a week to decide. He asked me for my $0.02 this morning. I said, "you dreamt of the USAFA since you were 13. Now you're standing at the front door. Do you knock, or do you walk away?". But, I've have also pointed out the bright side of UD when we toured on Tuesday. I keep telling him, it's his decision and we'll support either one. He is the one to live it, not me or my wife. We are both vets (AF and Navy) and did our time. This is his time and he chooses the path that's right for him.Syracuse covers room and board because of the type of AFROTC scholarship he has.
