Sorry what is a TWE?
So there is no way to get in after getting this letter or can there be a change if people decline their acceptance?Sorry what is a TWE?

DS got the TWE this morning also. He is disappointed to say the least. His Plan B was really just one of the FLorida Schools. He hadn't pursued the AFROTC option. But, we are curious, what would be the best path to increase chances of appointment for next year? All the best to those appointed and those not.
Not necessarily- DS had a friend who got a TWE in April. In June, he got a call telling him he was accepted. USAFA does not have a waiting list, so it appears they still fill slots right up to the end! Move forward with plan B, and if you get a call in June, it will be a pleasant surprise! So there is no way to get in after getting this letter or can there be a change if people decline their acceptance?Sorry what is a TWE?

For those of you whose DS/DD got TWE, did the status change in the online profile? or did they just receive the envelope in the mail?
I found that reading some of these posts to my DS really helped. I guess he felt less alone, gained perspective. My DD heard the bad news this morning, too. Already paid the deposit at plan B (UMass Boston, biology major, pre-med track). She hadn't looked into ROTC before, but she did call the recruiter today. There's an attachment at Boston University so she may do ROTC after all. As of now, her intent is to reapply next year. I hurt for her because she feels like she disappointed everyone (no matter how much we tell her how proud we are of what she did to get this far) but she has bounced back and refocused really quickly today. I know that no matter what, she's going to do great going forward.
Interesting , where is this announcement ?The Air Force Academy just announced they have sent out all their notices of admittance and there were only 1160 this year offered. So sad to see the number to be so low. Previous years used to have more. Makes me sad for those DS/DD who tried so hard their whole life to get recognized. Hopefully prepschool or Next year a nomination again, and then acceptance.
I am in AFROTC this year at a state school and reapplied to USAFA and got accepted. The big things to keep in mind if you want to apply again next year and be competitive are:
1) Good GPA in college (especially in math, science, engineering courses) shows that you can handle a college workload
2) Continued participation in community services, clubs, sports, activities, etc.
3) Doing well in AFROTC helps the application but it has really helped me understand more about the Air Force, and it has made me passionate about the path I am on while also starting to teach me the discipline, time management, and other military information.
I know it's a tough time having been rejected this year but give yourself a break, and come back in a week or two or a month and sit down and really think if it is worth it to apply again. It will mean doing 5 years of college and delaying your commission for a year. PM me if you have any other questions.
