USAFA Class of 2024 Appointment Thread

I feel there are many of us in the same boat - excited and happy for those offers and disappointed our DS or DD didn't make the cut... I'm in the latter boat as well. Trying to keep a chin up. I do know there will be many exciting things to come over the next few weeks as we start to narrow down alternative plans and maintain hope for USAFA that he isn't out of the running, yet. Fingers Crossed.

Yes. here's the excerpt from the Candidate Instructions (page 5):

February – March: Regular Selections - Appointments are made by reviewing everyone in each
nominating category. Majority of offer letters are sent in late March to
candidates selected for appointment.

April – May: Selections for future USAFA Preparatory School attendees and Falcon
Foundation Scholars.

April – May: Current USAFA Preparatory School/Falcon Foundation Scholars attendees are
considered for appointment to the Air Force Academy and some additional
regular appointments will be made during this time frame.

April 15th: Deadline to accept Preparatory School appointments and Falcon Foundation
Scholarships.

By April 21st: Letters sent to candidates who have not been selected for appointment.
Deadline for all candidates who completed a file to know their admissions
status.

May 1st: Candidates who received an appointment to USAFA must accept or decline
their appointment.

June: USAFA class enters.

April – May: Current USAFA Preparatory School/Falcon Foundation Scholars attendees are

April 15th: Deadline to accept Preparatory School appointments and Falcon Foundation
Scholarships.

By April 21st: Letters sent to candidates who have not been selected for appointment.

May 1st: Candidates who received an appointment to USAFA must accept or decline
their appointment.

June: USAFA class enters.

I guess there is some wiggle room as I have seen quite a few prep offers and well as falcon scholars get awarded an appt for the upcoming yr.

While we are disappointed to not have an appointment today, we know for sure our FL Congressperson had a nominee appointed. So, FL was for sure included in these appointments.
 
Are they all coming out today for this wave? I thought it would last a couple more weeks at least?

Don't be concerned! There's still plenty of time to hear back! I saw someone in this thread say that they're trying to finish appointments by the end of next week. That's still a week and a half you have to find out. Even then, some appointments are even made in April. Again, no one is out of the running until they hear a denial, until then, there's still hope!

Thank you for the update, much appreciated!

I hadn't seen any in the threads here, of course, they are limited to self reporting so it's difficult (but fun!), to try figuring out how it all works.

I know it's easier said than done, but for concerned parents and applicants, it's all going to be okay. The kids applying to this program are generally destined for great and exciting lives whether they get in here or do something else!
 
As a college re-applicant, I can definitely say the wait is very tough and especially to see other people receiving appointments with no update on our end, but stay positive and don't stress too much over seeing other appointments being handed out. You never know how late they give out appointments until I-Day hits.
