My son got an email invitation to attend a dinner social with admissions. He learned two weeks ago that he has a principal nomination to the USAFA. Anyone know what this is about? He is attending.

Attend the social -- it should be fun. USAFA does events like these to answer questions and encourage those who have not yet accepted to do so.
I expect that there will be a couple of current cadets in attendance as well.

We just attended one on Weds. It was a good event The Director of Admissions was there along with several of her staff members. Ds got a lot of facetime with her, her deputy, and other staff members amd left with the amswers to questions we didn't even know we had. I highly recommend attending.

BTW, Ms. Coyne, the deputy director, said only very competitive candidates were invited so that made ds and I feel a lot better about his chances!

Would you mind saying where the event is being held? Which city, I mean?

My son and husband attended in San Antonio. They were very pleased!

DH and DS attended in San Antonio Wednesday, as well. They had a great trip and enjoyed meeting the Admissions Director and personnel as well as other applicants. For that reason alone, it was worth it.

The goal of the event was fuzzy to DS b/c the invite came prior to receiving any nominations. So DS went into the social thinking it might be a recruiting event for c/o 2029. Now that his nominations are in hand, he recognizes the event was for competitve applicants and wishes he had asked more direct questions about his application.
