USAFA -> Med school inquiry

Hello everyone, I'm a high schooler trying to figure out my future pathways.
I had a few questions:
1. For those who are selected to attend medical school from USAFA, do they have the opportunity to decline the HPSP? Say they were accepted into an MD/PhD program, or if they just wanted to foot the cost themselves. My end goal is to work for NASA, so I want to make sure I don't have too much remaining obligation on my plate. I would love to serve, and it is a goal of mine, but I do not want to be locked if I get another opportunity. I would be coming out of obligation at the age of 38/40 based on other threads I've read with both the +5 and +4.
2. How much benefit is there to attending USAFA pre-med instead of going the civilian route and then joining the military after an MD? I am super interested in serving, and I love the idea of attending USAFA, but I'm not sure. I know going to medical school out of USAFA isn't guaranteed, but I'm willing to bet on myself to make it through that pathway. Would attending USAFA for UG provide a leg up when it comes to med school applications? Would being a USAFA student be more advantageous than an unaffiliated new doctor when it comes to serving?
4. For those you know who attended USAFA and exited before the third year, why did they leave?

I've spent a good amount of time looking into the medical school path after USAFA, and haven't found anything on if you are able to decline a HPSP scholarship and still go to medical school. Could someone let me know or link a thread or website that answers this.

I’ve read through past threads, so I think all my questions are answered now except the first. If anyone knows if you can decline the HPSP, please let us know
