True - math is definitely not the place I used my TI-89Having taken Calc 1-3, Diff Eq, and Linear Algebra here in the last 2 years I can tell you there is no need for a personal calculator. Either you’ll be using the honorlator as mentioned above or you’ll be using the more powerful MATLAB on your computer.
I haven’t used a personal calculator once in my math classes here and I could count on two hands the number of times they (personal versions) have even been authorized resources on tests.
It was all of the physics homework and tests that I found it so useful for. It was awesome to be able to do integrals right there on my calculator and not have to pull up MATLAB or Mathematica. As I understand it, the Nspire is the latest version of that calculator, so if you are a nerd, I say go for it. I still use the 89 I got before USAFA at work...but then again I am a physicist
