I am currently a reapplicat to USAFA. I have already completed two years with the Class of 2016, and then left USAFA in order to serve an LDS church service mission. As I said I am waiting to hear back from USAFA regarding being admitted into the Class of 2018 to finish my final two years. I expect to hear within the next few days to weeks. I am, however, also attempting to prepare myself for the crippling blow a rejection would be. That being said is it possible to have any of my time and training done at USAFA transfer into ROTC so that I wouldn't have to be in an ROTC program for all 3-4 years? I ask on this forum as I found zero information online regarding this and assumed that if anyone knew the answers I am seeking it would be some of the old timers on this forum. Thank you.

I have no clue, but want to say good luck. I know at USNA, if a Mid left in good standing, they were welcomed back after their mission. I am sure you know of many friends who did the path as yours at USAFA, did they have good success rates in reapplying?

Most people in this situation, as far as I know, are reaccepted. That being said I know a handful of people who have not been readmitted.

I'd say go talk to the recruiting officer at your local AFROTC detachment (or the det of the college you would be attending). I don't know how they would count your USAFA experience, but you'd probably have to spend 3 years in the program. However, you can totally work on your master's and probably finish it if all your credits transfer from USAFA to your new school, and that would be great to have. We had a cadet go on an LDS mission for two years and he just jumped back in where he left off but ended up taking an extra semester. ROTC definitely has a bit more flexibility than USAFA when it comes to these situations.

I talked to the ROTC office at my local University today and they said the situation is very unique and that it may be possible to get a waiver that allows me to complete the ROTC program in two years. They said they could try at the very least. However, can't move forward in any direction until I hear back from USAFA regarding readmission.
