USAFA vs. USNA

I never thought of myself going into the Army. The Air Force just appeals more to me. Flying planes, etc. It's a personal preference...

Im hoping to go intel from the Air Force side. I was wondering if any of you guys could tell me how hard it is to snag a Pentagon job in politico-military affairs or strategic plans and programs once I make field grade. I know thats a long way off but thats the kind of work Id really like to do in the air force. Id like to start out on the operational side in intel and maybe become a foreign area officer.

I know junior intel guys spend most of their time briefing and de-briefing aircrews, and on more technological things. And then the wing staff/senior intel guys focus more on political-military stuff and industrial-economic capacities of other countries.

So I was wondering if that path would make me a solid candidate to get those Pentagon/Senior staff jobs that I really want later on.

I could tell you....but then I'd have to kill you....

Like I said(Pima or somebody correct me if im wrong....sorry bout the TACP I was being general), FAO's(Foriegn Area Officers) can come from any career field. You just have to be good, VERY GOOD, smart, and have a great military backround.

I see FAO's everyday. Some wear flight suits(Pilot's,Nav's, ABM's...ect), some were BDU's(Intel, Comm., ect). All of them put their packets in and were approved.

The main spec ops for AF from USAFA are STO and CRO (special tactics operator and combat rescue officer). I might add that water is a significant part of the job for them too, lots of jumping too!
