Hello,

I was wondering what would happen to a Cadet if they successfully completed the preparatory school, but did not receive a nomination from any sources? Will the commander of the preparatory school be able to nominate the Cadet? Will the Cadet have to reapply next year?

Go read the Sticky Post pinned to the top of the Nominations forum.

USAFA manages a number of nom sources, including one for prior enlisted personnel. At the USNA’s NAPS, the civilian prepsters have enlisted status, so SECNAV nominations for enlisted personnel can be used. I assume that is likely true for USAFAPS WRT SECAF noms.

Prepsters are encouraged to apply for all possible nominations; that gives USAFA maximum flexibility as to what nom source a successful prepster’s appointment can be charged.

By offering USAFAPS, USAFA is essentially saying “complete this prep satisfactorily, remain qualified in other aspects, we are saving a seat for you because we think you are worth the investment in USAFAPS.” They would be highly unlikely to make this investment and leave a successful prepster out in the cold.
