USCGA Class of 2025 Appointment Thread

My DS was EA then deferred to RA and now waitlisted. Anyone know how long you can be on the waitlist and what the chances are of getting appointed?

Waitlist for prep school... what are the chances of receiving offer? Anyone know? DS is recruited athlete, so any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Depends on where you are on the waitlist, but if your son is truly a recruited athlete there is a better than average chance he will end up with a slot.

Any idea on chances of moving up the ladder to CGAS? Like what percentage of prep school waitlist students get moved into the prep school?
No way to know for sure, but a good number of CGAS waitlisters end up with a slot. Just takes some time for people to accept or decline their slot. Have your son talk to his coach tomorrow. He can likely provide more info.

Don't take this as the gospel truth, but I think I remember reading a post sometime last year stating that there were 75-100 candidates waitlisted. Given that around 400 offers of appointment were given out last year, I imagine our chances at least somewhat optimistic.

My DS was EA then deferred to RA and waitlisted last year. He received a CGAS appointment just before Memorial Day.

Earlier this week he received his appointment to the Academy, so hang in there!

Congratulations to all who have appointments. Commiserations to all who haven’t. For those offered Waitlist, it is a great indicator that the academy is interested in you; so even if unsuccessful this year my advice would be to definitely apply again. Remember Capt Fredie took 3 attempts before he was accepted. The academy respects tenacity!!

I received a decision over night night indicating I am wait-listed for CGAS...
I'll take anything I can get, and remain hopeful. I have already sent my acceptance email.

In the mean time I am enrolled at one of the 6 senior military colleges for self prep. I have a full tuition scholarship, and enough money for one semester of all the extra's (room and board, cadet fees, books, uniforms etc.) I will remain enrolled until reporting day and ready to cancel if I get moved up.
