USCGA Majors

Anyone know when USCGA Cadets are required to declare a major? (Don't remember if son had to list an intended major on the application or not...) Is it difficult for them to change majors once they have made an election? Thanks

I know you have to be accepted into the major of your choosing by the end of your sophomore year. Freshman year is more like a track, whereas sophomore year you start getting into major specific classes and then you are accepted into it at the end. As for switching, I'm not really sure!

Your major selection does not affect what classes you take as a 4/c. You choose your major in the spring of your 4/c year and take your first major specific courses as a 3/c. Some of the majors allow you to switch into them after first semester 3/c year, you may just lose a free elective later on.
