Hi everyone, just from a show of hands from this year's applicants, how long has it taken the USCGA to reach out for additional information for competitive candidates once they receive the waiver request? DS has an asthma waiver to be reviewed (last bronchitis issue was when he was 13). We've given DODMERB information from his pulmonologist to support the waiver. I know there is no set in stone answer, but it would be interesting to see the varying times to get a ballpark.

FACT:

Once Admissions forward to their Senior Medical Officer for review, one of three decision ensues...on a first in, first out basis and dependent on whether he needs to consult with other specialists within the USCG or Public Health Service.

Recommend to the Supt, waiver granted (1) or denied (2)

(3) Requests additional tests, consults, documents...thru DoDMERB to the applicant...PRIOR to him making his recommendation above. NOT ALL cases require additional tests, consults, documents.

Thank-you Mr. Mullen! So it is FIFO and depends on the workload of the Senior Medical Officer. Thanks again for your help!

And...potentially the complexity of the case, if he, not the applicant, needs to consult other physicians.

Our honor and privilege to serve:cool:
