Hello all,

I was DQ'd for history of tree nut allergies and had a waiver and AMI request through my LOA in late December (USMA). In the AMI request, they mentioned how USMA is now able to facilitate the AMI for determination due to the DoDMERB backlog. I was wondering if anyone had any input on this? Specifically, the general amount of time it takes and if it's at all different? I've had the AMI in since early January so I was wondering how long I would be waiting to hear about a determination.

I also noticed none of this is in my DoDMERB portal so I was wondering if that's supposed to be that way as well.

Any help is appreciated!

I'm in a similar situation; I received a similar email in Mid-December. I submitted my AMI information on December 27th. I sent a follow-up email on Feb 10th, and they responded with the below message.

I know I need to be more patient, the staff is working hard on all waiver requests, but the wait is agonizing.

"Thank you for your email. The provider has your file and is currently working their way through and reviewing all of the Cadet Candidates that have been assigned to them. When they are finished reviewing your AMI/remedial, they will make a recommendation and we send Admissions an official memorandum with their findings and recommendation. Thanks and have a great weekend!"

I appreciate the response! It's reassuring to see I'm not the only one stuck here.

The wait really is awful, I just wish they could tell us faster so we aren't possibly holding out hope for a lost cause 😒

Hopefully it all works out for the both of us!

I'm in the same position! Wondering if the 90-day waiver timeline is potentially sooner because AMI was received on Feb 2, 2023 so does that make that the start date of the 90-day timeline? Or is it when the AMI was received (Dec. 7). I went to my allergist and passed an oral peanut challenge but they did not have appointments sooner than Jan. 31 even though I contacted them immediately. Worried 90 days is later than April 15, when we have to be medically cleared for USMA.

Yeah I was worried about that too, since mine would put me right up until the end of that deadline. I did see some other posters saying they received theirs in only a month, while others took the full three months.

Basically it seems there's just no way to tell.

What email address did you use to ask KACH your status?

Just learned that the remedial exams we submitted to DODMERB on 28 Jan were successfully sent to USAFA, USNA & Army ROTC, but the upload did not go through to USMA (#1 choice). If you've submitted remedials and haven't heard anything in awhile- be sure to ask DODMERB to verify that your remedials were successfully uploaded to each academy individually. We were told on 28 Jan that everything had been processed and forwarded to the respective academies, but that was not the case! I wish I had asked for some sort of proof (upload receipt) or POC to ask if they actually received it (though I'm sure they would not have liked that level of inquiry). Now we start the clock over again!

Anyone get a waiver through KACH? DoDMERB updated today stating my waiver was denied, and this was after a successful peanut challenge. Not sure why, and not sure if this is the end, but it feels like it might be. Luckily I received a waiver at another academy.

My DD waiver was approved on March 13 by KACH; it was a long process. See the below timeline.

• On September 22, USMA issued a waiver request. The process was severely delayed due to the DODMERM outage.

• On Dec 8th, DD received an email from KACH. "The Keller Army Community Hospital has requested additional medical information to continue determining your medical qualification for Admission."

• On Dec 28th, submitted AMI paperwork to KACH. They confirmed receipt the same day.

• Feb 10th sent follow-up mail to: dha.westpoint.med-affairs.mbx.dodmerb-medical-waivers@health.mil

• March 13th waiver was granted.

They are swamped due to the DODMERB outage, so be patient.

Thank you guys for your guidance and sharing your situations.

What were your disqualifications? I was just wondering since I am in a similar situation for peanuts at the moment.
