Curious about the Parachute Team and the tryout process. Tryouts for the Class of 2023 have begun and it is extremely competitive. This past Sunday (10/6) was the physical day and there were a number of cadets that quit but a good number that made it through. Does anyone have insight on the numbers of cadets that try out, how many make it through and ultimately how many are chosen as well as insight into the process and timing for when new members are chosen?

I believe about 60 cadets tried the physical portion, 24 made it to the interview portion, then 6-8 will be chosen after that.

Is the Parachute Team something that you follow throughout your 4 years, how large of a commitment do you make if selected?

My SL was on the parachute team when I went to SLE. Tryouts are very difficult with both interviews and physical aspects. Once you are on the team, you go to it like an intramural sport and do jumps and practice form just about every day.
