Hi everyone,
I'm a senior currently applying for the USMA and USNA (and ROTC) I figured this probably was not an issue significant enough to warrant an email to my RC, so I figured it couldn't hurt to see if anyone on here had some advice. Last week, I completed my DoDMERB exams and received news that I was disqualified due to astigmatism over 3.00 (3.50) in one eye. I just had a few questions regarding my situation.
First, I was wondering if anyone had any experience with a waiver for this condition. I understand there is no way to predict waiver results, but any anecdotal evidence would be greatly appreciated.
Second, the USMA portal states "Disqualified" under the medical section, while the DoDMERB status page says "Under Waiver Review." Does this mean that a waiver has already been requested? I have not completed my entire application (I have yet to submit my CFA and candidate statements), but I did receive an LOA around 30 days ago. Is that enough application progress, or do I need to submit everything before a waiver is considered? Lastly, does this DQ mean the LOA is no longer applicable?
I'm new to this forum, but I have seen a Mr. Mullen around quite a bit with expertise on these types of issues. If he sees this, I did send an email with the subject "SAF Question Vision Astigmatism DQ" last week.
Thank you all!
