Hi, I am currently a CC at USMAPS and am applying to USMA. One of my congressional rec letter applications came back negative and I am beginning to consider the possibility of not making it into West Point. What are my options and what do people recommend I do in case I don’t get in? I should also probably mention that I am in very good standing in the prep school, I am acing almost all of my classes, am a tutor for two classes, and I think I have a good shot at being the USMAPS rugby team captain.

You are at MAPS, so USMA wants you and is saving a seat for you. If you are doing well in all areas, applied for all noms for which you are eligible but don’t get one, your case is why the Superintendent has a number of discretionary noms delegated from the Secretary of the Army.

I feel confident a nom will be found for you. Just keep doing well with a great attitude, and you will get your seat in the Class of 2024.

Caveat: I’m using my knowledge of USNA-NAPS to infer this info, and from what I’ve read from other posters here. I’ll defer to our Army posters, of course, but I sensed you were losing sleep and focus from this. This is also something you can discuss with your chain of command, keeping them updated on your nom efforts and asking about options.
