Good afternoon. I hope everyone is doing well in these crazy times. My DS (and the rest of my kids) are out of school indefinitely. Looking for some reading material for him. Can anyone recommend some good books for my DS about USMC History and other good reads about the USMC? Thanks in advance.

Six Essential Elements of Leadership: Marine Corps Wisdom of a Medal of Honor Recipient

Making the Corps, Thomas Ricks
One Bullet Away, Nathaniel Frick
With the Old Breed, Eugene Sledge
Call Sign Chaos, Gen. Mattis (read immediately after Frick's book as it covers same time period).
Dereliction of Duty, H.R. McMaster (not specifical USMC, but foundational organizational leadership book.)

Both these are on the reading list for majors and I got autographed copies for my son. Forgotten Warriors is authored by T.X. Hammes who is my former CO at CBIRF. He's a deep strategic thinking PhD retired infantry colonel. He tells me to call him TX these days. Kind of weird but not weird. The book on the elder Krulak I got autographed just by mailing it to the author in Georgia.

"Semper Fidelis" by Allan R. Millett was considered to be the premier scholarly history of the Marine Corps at one time. It is more like a history book and a tough read but it is thorough.

This just came to mind, watch Generation Kill on amazon prime video. It's very funny and will give your son a realistic view into the USMC
