USNA 2021!!!!!

Last year there were 1355 offers of appointment. 1177 took them up on it. I don't know how many have dropped but at the parent briefing on I-day the Superintendent said he was expecting this class to have a 90% completion rate.

Congrats!!!!

But having a DS going through this process, I realize that getting things done is easier said then done. He finished his portions of the applications in Aug, but the school profile wasn't finished until late Sept. One of his recommenders took forever to submit his recommendation. And even after conducting the BGO interview a month ago, the BGO hasn't submitted his eval.

There are certain things out of the control of the applicant, and there is only so much he/she can do,

@navymom2021 and @navyafgirl, was everything on your application complete including the BGO evaluation????

Congrats again!
Yes, I completely agree that a lot of things are out of your control. Getting "things" done ASAP was just advice for those that procrastinate and think that everything will be fine as long as they complete everything by the deadline. We weren't expecting to hear anything until Feb/Mar so we were completely shocked yesterday.
My son has a really good BGO, he told us with a rolling admission to get everything finished as soon as possible. He submitted his evaluation very quickly, sorry it has not been as easy for you. We also had some delays with teacher recommendations, our son respectfully emailed his teachers every few days until they wrote their letters.

yeah those early birds always amaze me, we were just starting to assemble our package at this point in the process!

Yes, Everyone I received an appointment off of the presidential nomination!! Its so unreal still!
I went to summer seminar and worked on a lot of my stuff in the summer. I asked my teachers to get my recommendations done asap so they did those in June/July. I turned in my last part on August 30th and waited for my transcripts to get in. Everything was done by September 19th.... and now I'm in. I definitely expected to have to wait until after I got a congressional nomination but it feels good to not even have to worry about it. I can say that I am thankful that I was on top of everything, but to those people not finished yet-- don't freak out too much because I have a few friends who completed their applications the same time as me and have presidential nominations but did not receive an appointment, so I think its only a few of the "exceptional" people. Congrats to anyone else in!!! SUPER EXCITING!!!

And if anyone just getting started on the applications or are still too young to apply but want answers to any questions, I'd be happy to answer anything related to my experiences! Just private message me :)

DS had it all done by Jul 25th, everything, Dodmerb, BGO interview included. LOA to WP in mid-Aug. But alas no pres nom or LOA so he waits...

You know that "you are in so wrap yourself in bubble wrap" thing has some merit. My DS strained his back on a late May senior trip to a wake boarding park. Gave us a scare. Went to the Dr who said there was no real damage and as a precaution we found a gentle chiropractor who got him all back in alignment. Still I was nervous as he reported to I-day. On his first phone call home I asked him..."How is your back? " He answered.."well we have worked it so hard it got better". He did fine in plebe summer but he got lucky.

Congrats to all the USNA class of 2021. The North Texas Parents' Club is looking forward to greeting our local plebes at our Welcome Aboard function in June!

Yesterday was a federal holiday. I am anticipating some joyful entries this time tomorrow. Good luck to those who have everything completed!
