@Chief2002 I hope you are on point. Has appointment to USMA, USAFA, AROTC, AFROTC 4 yr. to three schools ranked in top 20 in nation (waiting for NROTC). Not sure what USNA is not seeing that everyone else does. 🤷🏻 Maybe caught in diversity or the old two tier admissions process. I hope I am wrong!!!

What you see above is a graph that shows the accumulation of this web forum's self-reported appointments over the admissions cycle for the 2022, 2023, and 2024 (as of 01-Mar-20) classes. I've been making this graph for the folks over in the USAFA forums for the last couple weeks as appointments roll out. @ThePatternisFull messaged me to ask if I could make one for USNA.

Hopefully this might help those on this forum understand where USNA stands in the admissions cycle. It also might help project how many appointments are still left to go out. To get that, we would need an idea on if/how incoming class size correlates to the number of self-reported appointments for past years and if USNA has released info on the expected class size for those entering in 2024. I'm not familiar with that info, so I'll leave that question to be answered by you, the USNA experts (though I can do the math if you gather the data). Also we would need to assume that appointments are delivered at an equal rate for those who are likely to self-report and those that are not even on this forum. Equivalently, that the people who visit this forum are a representative population of qualified candidates.

I will say that USNA does seem to have their admissions process dialed in because the accumulation of self-reported appointments is almost identical between years. Must be nice. Anyway, good luck!

@AFrpaso ...hoping you can push another update on this chart. It could be just lower SAF reporting, but it has been really quiet on the USNA appointments and the chart is showing we've been behind in reporting compared to the two most recent years. Your chart does't show any large appointment pushes like we've seen with USMA and USAFA this year, but I'm hoping a large push for USNA will be coming soon!

That’s my thoughts exactly. NM for DS especially!! Still CPR and as far as a news search there hasn’t been an appointment from NM that we know of??... Who knows? Maybe soon!!🤞🤞

Unsure whether or not appointments will come out in the next few weeks because of mids getting sent home and faculty not being on campus. Not sure of all the details of what's happening at USNA, but perhaps admissions won't be reviewing candidates for a few weeks.

Not sure what USNA is not seeing that everyone else does. 🤷🏻 Maybe caught in diversity or the old two tier admissions process. I hope I am wrong!!!

So funny... my DS is in the exact opposite position. NROTC 4yr, and USNA Appointment... but seemingly turned down by USAFA and USCGA. Happy Navy sees his potential; scratching my head as to what the other branches were looking for. It's such a weird process.

USNA is a STEM school. Bet they have virtual solutions bubbling on the stove. Essential staff will be there, which may include some key people in Admissions. The military thrives on challenge and testing its skills against an adversary. They will go around, under, through if they can’t go over. The mission of USNA is to produce Navy and Marine officers. They will figure it out.

I agree with you.. The Naval Academy knows how to do virtual communications and meetings... they hold various USNA online chats that allow folks to interact with staff for prospective candidates... I am sure they would be able to have a virtual meeting if they still need to discuss offers of appointments... then it is just a button they push to send the candidate a notification - (from someone that is NOT technical!! :))

Here is the official correspondence from admissions at the Naval Academy:

Academy Office of Admissions is reducing or postponing our external outreach efforts, including staff travel to many communities nation-wide, through at least mid-April. Large group events such as Candidate Visit Weekends for juniors and seniors as well as a Centers of Influence Conference previously scheduled in March and April have been postponed as well. Additionally we have temporarily suspended face-to-face briefings in our office. We will make determinations weekly regarding engagements in the remainder of April and May. We hope to resume our normal outreach efforts as soon as the national situation improves.

In the meantime, the Office of Admissions remains fully operational. We are providing the Admissions Brief virtually in lieu of face-to-face public briefings. The brief is available online on Youtube, which will be accompanied by a live chat with Admissions staff for questions and answers from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Eastern Time and 2 p.m. – 3 p.m. Eastern Time. The live chat will be accessible from this “Contact Us” chat widget available on our Admissions website.

You are still able to contact the Office of Admissions by phone at 410-293-1858, by email at inquire@usna.edu, via our social media (listed below), or via our website.

Admissions information materials may also be found on our website.

You guys, every academy is unique in its own right and they are not looking for the same people to be in their organization. You can't follow more than one path, so be happy that the potential was seen and accepted by at least one SA or ROTC program. Don't expect to be accepted by them all. I too was frustrated for my DD, but in time you realize just one door was all there was needed to be open for your DD/DS to go through. And that will most likely be the one that was meant for them all along.

Question: DD was turned down by NROTC scholarship, does this indicate anything to how USNA is viewing her application? She is triple qualified with a nomination. She is in the top 1% of her class (ranked 10 out of 300) has a 4.37 GPA and has all A's an B's in her AP classes. She has also been a Varsity Lacrosse Goalie for the past 3 years. I am baffled by the decision of the NROTC. I know they are two different processes but I am just shocked.

That is actually surprising! USNA is looking for females and minorities.

My DS didn’t get the NROTC scholarship either and a week later received an appointment to the USAFA. Don’t lose hope until you are told differently speaking from experience.
