USNA Class of 2027 Waiting and Speculating

Hello,

This is my first time writing here, I applied for USNA this year, along with the USMMA. I got into the Merchant Marine Academy, and I was wondering if I haven’t received any word yet, should I commit to USMMA? USNA is my first choice, so if I were to hear back after I commit to USMMA would I be able to switch?
 
seriously though, my DD has 3 softball games this week and that's just what she needs to distract her :) (and her parents....)
 
Because I didn't have enough to do with having to refresh this portal every 5 minutes, my trial that was supposed to start yesterday got continued to later this month, my zoom stopped working mid hearing this morning and the pool where I run a USA Swimming age group team (and also where my son's HS water polo team plays) is now down indefinitely due to maintenance that should have been done 30 years ago. So now I need to find a temporary location for the swim team for an indefinite period of time, his polo games are all over the place instead of home. And the real kicker is senior night was scheduled for the day I was supposed to fly to Nashville. Last week, I changed my flight from an afternoon flight to a late one to make sure I could be there for him and now the game won't be that night but I can't get back to my original flight because it's sold out which means I am missing a chanced to go to a concert at the Opry House so that I can fly in late at night after a game that isn't happening.

Annnnnnnnnnd, still CPR....

Is it 5 o'clock yet!?!?!? Oh wait, it doesn't matter because I have swim tonight and need to figure out where...

If anyone sees anything exciting in the portal, come get me. I'll be out back digging a hole in my yard big enough for a 10 lane pool...my dogs are going to love it!!!!!

Yes, you are not "actually" committed to anything until you take the oath on I-Day.

But, you have until 5/1 usually to press the button. I would think you will know your answer by next week, at the latest, for USNA.

Congrats on your USMMA appointment! It is another road to the same goal!

I believe the page gets updated when we sign into the portal. It doesn’t mean anything. For ex. If you login to the portal to check the status 4/10 at 8am, and log back again at 9pm. It will show you last updated 4/10 8am (the time you login ).

Man I love Nashville!:) Who were you seeing at Opry House? The best concert venue I’ve ever experienced was the Ryman! I saw Ryan Bingham a few years back!….digging a hole would also be wildly distracting and then I’d be so tired I’d actually sleep well!! I hope all the machinations work out for you! It updates every hour, at least in my experience. Might just be because I check it more than I probably should.

It was Mandy Barnett, The Gatlin Brothers, Charlie McCoy, Restless Road, and Chris Young. I'm flying in for the Rock N Roll Half Marathon with some friends and we were planning to make a girls weekend out of it (much needed!). The concert is Thursday night and the race is Saturday so it would have been a ton of fun! Way more fun than digging a pool in my yard. LOL!!!

Awesome! Sounds like a blast! My cousin is a standup comedian who is known for his clean comedy and just got inducted into Opryland last month. We’re so proud of him! And even when we don‘t go see a show we LOVE the Gaylord Opryland Resort. So much fun and the plants are 😍.

Don't give up the ship!!!! If you really want to go to the USNA and are willing to graduate from it in 5 years, not 4, then definitely reapply. From what I have read over the past 2 years, second timers are favorably looked upon. Shows determination in the face of a set back. A characteristic combat officers need. Reproduce the plebe academic courses, Chemistry, Math, Physics, English, etc, and get at least a B if not A in them, increase the CFA skills and re-do your essays to reflect your set back but how it made you stronger and what you learned from it. A year from now you will be sharing your appointment with this forum.
